Pioneer Woman Grilled Beef Tenderloin

Pioneer Woman Grilled Beef Tenderloin (also called Ladd’s Grilled Tenderloin) is made with a whole beef tenderloin, melted salted butter, seasoned salt, and lemon & pepper seasoning. This easy grilled beef tenderloin recipe creates a delicious dinner that takes about 40-45 minutes to prepare and can serve up to 8 people.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 whole beef tenderloin
  • 2 sticks of salted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3 tbsp seasoned salt (more to taste)
  • 3 tbsp lemon & pepper seasoning (more to taste)

How To Make This Grilled Beef Tenderloin:

  1. Trim the tenderloin: Using a sharp knife, carefully remove the silver membrane from the top of the beef tenderloin, keeping the tenderloin sections intact.
  2. Prepare the tenderloin: Place the trimmed beef tenderloin into a heavy-duty foil roasting pan. Pour the melted butter over the tenderloin, making sure it’s well coated. Sprinkle seasoned salt and lemon & pepper seasoning over the top.
  3. Grill the tenderloin: Place the pan on the grill and let the butter heat up. After about 10 minutes, turn the tenderloin and season the other side. Continue turning the tenderloin every 7-8 minutes as it browns. Add more butter if it cooks away.
  4. Check the temperature: Grill the tenderloin for 20-30 minutes, depending on its thickness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Remove the tenderloin from the grill when it reaches 125-130°F for medium-rare.
  5. Rest and slice: Transfer the grilled tenderloin to a baking sheet or cutting board and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. After resting, slice the tenderloin to your preferred thickness and serve!

Recipe Tips

  • Trim the tenderloin carefully: Removing the silver membrane ensures a more tender bite, so don’t skip this step.
  • Monitor the butter: The butter will get very hot on the grill, so keep a close eye on it and use long tongs for safety.
  • Turn frequently: To achieve an even sear and brown crust, turn the tenderloin every 7-8 minutes.
  • Use a meat thermometer: For the best results, remove the tenderloin when it reaches an internal temperature of 125-130°F for medium-rare.
  • Let it rest: Allow the tenderloin to rest for 5-10 minutes after grilling to ensure juicy slices.

How To Store & Reheat Leftovers

Storing in the Fridge: Place leftover beef tenderloin in an airtight container or tightly wrap it in aluminum foil. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
