Recipe Tips

  • Chill the Slaw Properly: Make sure to chill the slaw for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors meld together and keeps the cabbage crisp.
  • Don’t Overmix the Burger Patties: Mix the ground beef mixture gently. Overmixing can make the burgers tough. Just mix until combined.
  • Use a Wire Rack for Broiling: Place the burger patties on a wire rack set on a baking sheet. This allows the heat to circulate around the patties for even cooking and prevents them from getting soggy.
  • Check Mango Sweetness: Taste the mango before adding sugar. If it’s already sweet, you might not need the extra sugar in the slaw.
  • Toast the Buns Well: Toast the brioche buns until they are golden brown. This adds a nice crunch and prevents the buns from getting soggy when you add the mayonnaise and burger toppings.

How To Store & Reheat Leftovers

  • Refrigerate: Let leftover Caribbean Burgers cool to room temperature. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze: Wrap each leftover Caribbean Burgers in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating in a skillet or oven.
  • Reheating: To reheat leftover Caribbean Burgers, warm the patties in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, or in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until heated through.
